Nexen Heroes
The Nexen Heroes play 2nd fiddle--actually 3rd fiddle--to the Doosan Bears and LG Twins when it comes to the popularity of baseball teams in Seoul. Even though they are 3rd, they definitely have a few things going for them that those other teams lack. Foremost among those things: their own stadium.
The Scouting Report
The Nexen Heroes are a great team to watch play baseball if you live in east Seoul. Honestly, there is no real particular reason to travel across town to Jamsil Stadium if you are just wanting to watch baseball. Perfectly good baseball is being played at Mokdong Stadium by the Nexen Heroes.
The Home Field
The Nexen Heroes play their home games in Mokdong Baseball Stadium. The baseball stadium is part of the larger Mokdong Sports Complex, which also includes a multi-purpose stadium and an ice rink.
It opened in 1989 and has a seating capacity of 16,000. There is no seating behind the outfield fences. It is all along the foul lines and behind home plate.
There is nothing that particularly stands out about Mokdong Stadium. It is nice, but it is fairly bland. It sits in a sports complex along with an all-purpose athletics stadium and an ice rink.
How To Get There
Where: Seoul-si, Yangcheon-gu, Mok-dong
From Line 5 - Omokyo Station (오목교역):
-Walk straight out of exit 5. When you get to a stream, follow the stream to the left. Walk approximately 600 meters until you get to Mokdong Sports Complex. The complex will be on your left.
