Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park

Pyeonghwa Park, which literally means Peace Park, could be considered the heart of the World Cup Parks. It is the park closest to World Cup Stadium and is an extremely popular park for picnicking.

The Scouting Report

Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park is a fantastic park. The most rewarding aspect of the park is that it does not get overly crowded like other parks in Seoul. Even though it is a popular destination, there is still plenty of space to spread out in. There is no need to rub elbows here.

As such, Pyeonghwa Park is an ideal place to spend a day picnicking. In fact, picnicking is perhaps the main reason people flock here. It should probably be the main reason you head here right now.

Picnics

Seriously, this park should actually be called "Picnic Park". It is a perfect place for picnicking. It is not difficult to find an isolated area where you can throw down a picnic blanket and spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors.

Nearby Parks

What? Peace Park isn't good enough for you? It's not big enough? Cool. No problem.

Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park is part of the greater World Cup Park system. It is directly connected to Nanji Hangang Park, Haneul Park, Nanjicheon Park, and the area surrounding World Cup Stadium.

With endless opportunities surrounding the park, there's no excuse to get bored and restless. There is plenty to see and do.

Sports

Although the traditional sports scene isn't the focal point of this park, no park would be complete without at least a small nod to the athletes out there. Pyeonghwa Park is no exception.

There is a tennis court hidden in the wooded area south of the pond. Also, an open field near the walkway connecting the park to Nanji Hangang Park is a popular place for pick-up games of soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, and the such.

Perhaps there is no better park in Seoul for photography. It is scenic, has plenty of picturesque landscapes, and rarely gets overcrowded. For professionals and amateurs alike, plenty of beautiful subjects can be found here.
