Yeouido Hangang Park
Parks
Although the Han River has multiple parks scattered around its banks, it could be argued that Yeouido Hangang Park is its franchise player. Not only does Yeouido Hangang Park boast a fantastic view of Seoul...not only does it have plentiful open space and bike rentals (along with boat cruises)...not only does it play host to two popular Seoul events: the International Fireworks Festival and the Cherry Blossom Festival...not only....(you probably get the point by now).
Yeouido Hangang Park is a cornerstone in the Hangang Park network of parks, and it serves that role well.

Like most of the Hangang parks, Yeouido offers a great view of Seoul. An added bonus is that from Yeouido Hangang Park, Bukhan Mountain is visible in the background. Not only is it visible, but it is nicely framed behind the N Seoul Tower.
These incredible views are thanks to the park's great central location in Seoul. It occupies the northern shore of Yeouido, a very popular island in the Han River. Yeouido Hangang Park, rightfully so, always sees loads of people thanks to this location.
Relaxing Next To The Han River
There is a lot of open green space here. Finding a patch of ground to set up a tent or spread out a blanket is the most popular activity here. Try it out. It is a great place to set up "camp" and laze next to the river all day admiring the views.
Bicycle Rentals
Yeouido is a great place to ride a bike around. In addition to Yeouido Hangang Park's bicycle paths, nearby Yeouido Park has a dedicated bicycle loop. There is also a scenic trail that loops around the entire island.
Type of Bike | Rate |
---|---|
Children's bike | 3,000 won / hour |
Tandem bike | 6,000 won / hour |
Standard gearless bike | 3,000 won / hour |

Festivals
Enjoy fireworks? Enjoy cherry blossoms? Yeouido Hangang Park plays host to two extremely popular festivals throughout the year. The Seoul International Fireworks Festival draws thousands of people every fall. During the spring, the park is inundated with cherry blossom gawkers.
Intangibles
This is one of the most popular parks in Seoul for a good reason. Actually, for several good reasons. Between the mountains in the background, Seoul N Tower, and the iconic 63 Building, there are great views to be had no matter where you look.
The park's boat dock is a popular place from which you can enjoy being on the actual river. River cruises leave regularly and provide unique views of Seoul.
For many people, people-watching is the primary reason to visit the park. There is a plethora of people-watching to be had here. People come here for all reasons: to fly kites, to lie on the grass, to throw balls and Frisbees around. There are plenty of people to watch doing plenty of things.
