Jeongbalsan Park

Information current as of August 19, 2016

Arguably for good reason, Jeongbalsan, despite being a mountain, often gets overlooked in Ilsan. Most people flock to nearby Lake Park. While there is nothing wrong with that, there is a lot that Jeongbalsan Park offers. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending on your point of view, not too many people know about the fun to be found in Jeongbalsan Park.

Jeongbalsan Park is extremely easy to get to from the subway. One of Ilsan's most popular subway stops, Line 3's Jeongbalsan Station deposits riders right at the footstep of the park.

The park itself is primarily a low but sprawling mountain. There isn't too much flat space here. With that being said, there are decent sports facilities such as a basketball court and soccer field.

Great Pick-up Basketball

Although there are a lot of basketball courts in Korea, not all of them field great pick-up action. The court here at Jeongbalsan Park sports great competition at a very steady flow. There are good games 7 days a week.

Beware. The basketball court gets busy. Be prepared to wait for your turn on the court if you show up on a busy afternoon. Once you get on, don't lose.

Scenic Hiking

As is expected, since the park is primarily a mountain, there are a lot of hiking trails that wind around the park. Some skirt the mountain and some go over the mountain. Regardless, they are all great for very easy-going casual strolls.

Hiking to the peak is not difficult at all. Everyone in Ilsan should consider taking a couple hours to do so. The view of Ilsan from the top is nice.
