Yuldong Park

Most people visit Yuldong Park for one of two reasons: either to ramp up their nerves through bungee jumping, or to calm their nerves by enjoying a peaceful walk around the park's lake. Their is a very small contingency of people that visit the park for another reason--the badminton courts.

The Scouting Report

Yuldong Park is The Seoul Stop's Grade-A Recommended Bundang badminton location. Honestly, there is no real reason that can justify this declaration. Just accept it.

The playing surface could be better, but it could also be much worse. The dirt around the boundary markers has eroded enough to create hazards near the lines. The permanent markings extend just high enough above the ground to potentially cause an athlete to trip and stumble in the middle of an otherwise perfectly executed smash.

  • The courts are set in a scenic location. They are nestled between a beautiful lake and wooded hills.
  • The courts are set in an exciting location. A bungee jumping platform is nearby. A regular bout of screams gets delivered every few minutes. Pretend the screams are coming from fans cheering (or jeering) your badminton game.
  • Nets are usually in place.

  • The courts have seen some serious erosion. The boundary markers stick high enough above ground to present a tripping hazard.
  • Don't come to Yuldong Park only to play badminton with no back-up plan in mind. The courts get used quite a bit. You could end up waiting a while for a court to open up if they are already all taken.
